Planning the ultimate Babymoon

Planning the ultimate Babymoon

Expecting a brand new little one? It’s time to soak up all the relaxation in these last few months of being a family of two, and celebrate your new arrival of course! A babymoon is the perfect way to kick off this new season of life with your partner.

Whether you travel to a faraway, tropical destination or keep it close to home, here are our best babymoon ideas to ensure your trip goes as smoothly as possible.

Time it right

When it comes to traveling while pregnant, it’s all about the timing. You don’t want to be in the midst of morning sickness and barely able to keep food down, but you also don’t want to be so far along that you are uncomfortable or run the risk of going into labor. For most people, the second trimester is the sweet spot for a babymoon.

Minimize travel time

Travel is always stressful, and traveling while pregnant is even more difficult. You’ll want to choose a destination that accommodates your travel needs. For example, try to avoid anywhere that will take multiple hours-long flights to reach. You also may want to steer clear of cross-country road trips, or long drives with no stops. Overall, try to make the trip as stress-free as you can!

Choose a great destination

The destination you choose can make or break your babymoon! The best babymoon destinations are ones where you have a good mix of relaxing and sightseeing options. You want to avoid anywhere that is full of strenuous activities. Keep the weather in mind, as you may be uncomfortable if it's much too hot or cold. You’ll also want to research any travel restrictions issued in regards to viruses or other advisories. There are tons of amazing destinations within the country or internationally that don’t require stressful travel!

Plan for medical care

Throughout your pregnancy, and especially while traveling, it’s essential to have access to medical care in the event that anything needs attention. Keep your OB in the loop about all of your travel plans, and discuss the destination and activities with them ahead of time. Additionally, research medical facilities and hospitals in the area you are traveling to before you go, so that if anything were to happen, you know you’ll be taken care of.

Plan for downtime

Remember, you might not have the same energy you once did! Even though you may be eager to hit all of the hikes, tours, snorkeling adventures, etc., it's also important to schedule time to relax. Plan for a nice massage, a nap on the beach, or a nice dinner with a view. After all, the purpose of a babymoon is to spend time together before your new arrival, and get some much-needed R&R!

Welcoming a new baby is such an exciting milestone worth celebrating! But it will also change the way you travel, and spend time together. Making the most of the months before the baby arrives is an amazing way to bond with your partner, and better prepare yourselves for parenthood!
